Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc expressed confidence in the Maranello team’s future, saying that Lewis Hamilton’s move to the team has reassured him. As the British driver prepares to leave Mercedes after years of success, he will join the Italian side on a multi-year contract. Ferrari has struggled to compete for the Formula 1 championship in recent years, with their last title win dating back to 2008. But Leclerc believes that the addition of the seven-time world champion is a positive sign that the team’s prospects are on the rise.
“It was reassuring because taking a driver like Lewis Hamilton is obviously a strong signal,” Charles Leclerc said in a recent interview for the Italian version of Motorsport.com – “I saw it as a positive choice, starting with the fact that Lewis could facilitate the arrival of very talented people in the team.”
The agreement was made public before the 2024 Formula 1 season began, with Charles Leclerc clarifying that he had minimal involvement in the behind-the-scenes developments.
“It had been in the air for a while, but until there is an official confirmation you can’t be sure. I knew there was interest from both sides, and in these cases it is very likely that an agreement will be reached. I didn’t ask to know more, it’s not part of my role, but I must say that everyone has always been very open and sincere with me” – Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc concluded in his recent interview for the Italian media.
