Scuderia Ferrari continued their strong start to the pre-season testing session by putting in more laps than any other team this morning. Carlos Sainz was on track for the Maranello team in the first part of the day, while Charles Leclerc took over for the afternoon session at the Circuit de Catalunya.
When the chequered flag was out on Thursday in Barcelona, it was Charles Leclerc who topped the timesheets ahead of Daniel Ricciardo, with Scuderia Ferrari and McLaren having shared much of the fastest times of testing so far.
George Russell was fourth for Mercedes while Sergio Perez finished seventh in the Red Bull. Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, was 16th and slowest of all. But there was certainly some sandbagging going on out there!

Pierre Gasly got very close to Charles Leclerc’s leading time with a 1:19.918 in the closing stages of the afternoon session, but the Ferrari driver immediately restored some distance between himself and the AlphaTauri by responding with a 1:19.689.
One other encouraging aspect for Scuderia Ferrari is the fact that Maranello team recorded the most laps today, just like on the first day (150 laps in total, 78 laps for Charles Leclerc and 72 for Carlos Sainz). AlphaTauri finished with the second-highest lap count as Gasly put in 146 tours of the track, with Aston Martin in third as Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll put in 127 laps between them.
The final day of testing in Barcelona gets underway on Friday at 9AM local time.
