After the terrifying triplet of Barcelona, Spielberg, and Silverstone (and if we include the other zero in Montreal), the weekend in Budapest doesn’t start in the best way for Charles Leclerc, fresh from yet another heavy disappointment in Great Britain two weeks ago.
Charles Leclerc is once again forced to lick his wounds.
After a promising morning, which saw him finish the first session in third place, only behind Max Verstappen and his teammate, FP2 lasted only a few minutes for the Monegasque, who was forced to abandon the session early due to a contact with the barriers.
Car number 16 lost control of his car exiting turn 4, crashing heavily with the rear into the barriers and ending the run a few hundred meters further on.
A basic error not particularly serious, but it compromises the continuation of the weekend, with the Monegasque having to try to complete the scheduled work program today in the last sixty minutes available in FP3 tomorrow morning.
“Up to this point, I am happy with the car,” commented Charles Leclerc post FP2. “Today’s day was more solid in terms of performance compared to the last weekends.”
“Unfortunately, I went wide in turn four and lost the car jumping over the curb. Luckily, I didn’t do too much damage even though I couldn’t continue the session. We will recover the program that we couldn’t complete tomorrow in free practice 3.” – the Monegasque driver pointed out.

It remains to be seen the extent of the damage and if the technicians will be forced to replace the new floor for tomorrow, which was introduced precisely this weekend. In any case, the Maranello team can still rely on a backup specification even in the worst-case scenario, so Charles Leclerc should be able to continue the weekend without major technical problems.
