Do you feel more nervous during the race or qualifying?
Charles Leclerc: “I spoke about this already with Carlos, I think we are more nervous with qualifying, which might seem weird but the fact is, in qualifying you just have one lap. In that Q3 lap, you have to put absolutely everything together. And the smallest error you make, has a huge consequence on the result because everyone is so close now. It is a very tense moment. If you do a small mistake in the race, you have many laps to catch back this error. It‘s not as big of a deal. So I would say I am more nervous in qualifying.”
What do you love most about driving an F1 car?
Charles Leclerc: “I think the most impressive is probably the cornering. Surely on the straights it is going very quick, but you get used to it. But in the car, to always push the limit in the corner, it is incredibly impressive. So for me, the speed in the corners is what feels the most impressive and it also very tricky because now with those cars, we are so quick around the corners, that the car is very sensitive with the wind. Just a little bit of wind & it upsets the car a lot.”
