Charles Leclerc discusses the Middle East’s growing interest in Formula 1. Charles discusses the Middle East's growing interest in F1.

After the next two events (the races in Mexico and Brazil), the 2021 Formula 1 world championship will end with the last three races, all to be held in the Middle East. After the official debut of Qatar and Saudi Arabia on the 2021 F1 calendar, the sport will archive the current season with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, scheduled to take place on December 10-12. A stage, the one in the United Arab Emirates, which will be held in a location that is not at all indifferent to Ferrari, which in 2010 inaugurated the Ferrari World theme park right next to the Yas Marina circuit.

With a little more than a month until the final round of the world championship, American international monthly men’s magazine GQ interviewed Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who expressed himself on the upcoming events that will await F1 in the final part of the calendar: “Racing in Qatar and Saudi Arabia will be exciting as the circuits there are new additions to our calendar. We all know these tracks on paper and from the simulator, but you only really get to know them fully once you arrive there and experience what the track feels like in terms of grip or how its characteristics suit your car in real life. This should mix things up and make for some fun racing. I also look forward to discovering these two new locations.”

Along with the first races at Losail and Jeddah, the Yas Marina circuit will also present a new layout, which will make the lap time faster than in the past. Speaking of the previous events in the Emirates, Charles Leclerc said: “The Abu Dhabi GP is always one of the most spectacular events of the year. It is the last race of the season and there are lots of events taking place throughout the weekend. There are many activities organised for fans, including some of the best concerts. The atmosphere is very unique, with the paddock facing the water and the marina on one side. What I look forward to the most is seeing fans back at the track. Meeting them gives us a lot of good energy and I really enjoy seeing them having a good time. The organisers of the Grand Prix have done a fantastic job in creating a special experience for fans who visit Abu Dhabi for the race weekend. They have created an event that everyone looks forward to and have established it as one of the season’s highlights, so the enthusiasm is definitely high.” – the Monegasque driver explained.

“It would be difficult to choose one favourite thing to do there, but something that has always been a lot of fun is visiting Ferrari World, which is very close to the circuit. It has the fastest rollercoaster in the world that reaches speeds of up to 240 km/h. This can give everyone an idea of what it feels like to sit in a Ferrari car! Regardless of the fun and emotions experienced in Abu Dhabi, the Monegasque’s goal remains the same: “Every time we get in the car, we strive to make our fans as well as everyone working in our team – both at the track as well as back home at the Ferrari factory in Maranello – proud.” – Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc concluded.
