The past few weeks have been a roller coaster for Scuderia Ferrari: after the victory on the streets of Monte Carlo in Monaco, the Italian side had a double zero points finish two weeks ago in the Canadian Grand Prix, which was held at the 4.361-kilometre Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal. A rapid evolution that demonstrates the unpredictability of the 2024 Formula 1 season and also of the SF-24. However, Charles Leclerc is convinced that the problems from the last race will not reoccur in Spain, where, on the contrary, the Maranello team has a chance to do well. Even a victory seems possible.
“A lot of work has been done after Canada. Obviously, we had an issue with the power unit on Sunday that cost us a good result because the pace was there in the corners, while on the straight I was losing between one and one and a half seconds, which was too much to allow us to do anything good. On Saturday, we didn’t get the tires in the right window and, looking back, I think there were things that could have been done better, which we didn’t manage well at the time of qualifying.” – the Monegasque driver explained on Thursday at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix.
“We have clarified things with the team and I am confident that the engine problems will not reoccur here. We understood what the problem was and we have solved it, although I can’t go into details. Besides the power unit, the car also lacked performance, but I believe everything will be normal here in Barcelona,” confirmed the Monegasque to some Italian and international media in Montmelo yesterday.
