For Charles Leclerc, the Jeddah race is an important event in this final part of the 2021 Formula 1 season. And not only because the Monegasque driver could overtake Lando Norris and move up to fifth position in the drivers’ standings which would make him the best of the rest (ahead of the final race of the season, in Abu Dhabi). Charles Leclerc arrives at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after some boring races, in which Carlos Sainz was able to finish ahead of him in the race and, even more in unexpected, in qualifying.
Could Saudi Arabia be the stage for Charles Leclerc’s redemption? The Monegasque driver hopes so, but is aware that the new Jeddah circuit may not be ideal for the Ferrari SF21 car: One thing is guaranteed: Charles Leclerc does not give up and will aim to seize every opportunity, because ‘anything can happen’: “On paper it doesn’t look like one of our best tracks due to the long straights and the fact that it is a high speed track, but we will only be able to see once we get out on the track, and also the new engine will help us: if it is enough to beat McLaren I don’t know, it will be tough but anything can happen. I hope as drivers we can make a difference, I can’t wait to try this circuit tomorrow for the first time. In addition there are three DRS zones and they are very long. I think a third of the track is covered by DRS, so I don’t think overtaking is as difficult as it is on any steet circuit. It will certainly be a demanding circuit for us drivers, it is at high speed and there are close walls: there is no room for mistakes.” – Charles Leclerc explained, ahead of the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

The reporters didn’t miss the chance to once again ask the Ferrari driver about the prospects for the 2022 Formula One season, a year in which the Maranello team hopes to be able to fight for race wins after a long time:
“If next year can we take another big step forward? I believe we are working well, there is no reason to think otherwise. We are making excellent progress at the team level, we have improved the car a lot from 2020 to 2021 and now it is up to us to take this big step to get back to winning next year. I am confident: we can do it” – Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc concluded.
