Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will start the Styrian Grand Prix from the fourth and sixth rows respectively. The Monegasque was seventh fastest, while Carlos did not make the cut to Q3 and will start from 12th on the grid. The Spaniard will therefore have a free tyre choice for the first stint when the GP gets underway at 15 tomorrow.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc says he’s “happy about the lap” he put in during qualifying for the 2021 Formula 1 Styrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring, the Monegasques starts Sundays race P7.
How far away are you from the McLaren?
Charles Leclerc: “In the race pace, I don’t think we were that far away. If anything we were a little bit better on Friday, but today their pace was very impressive. In qualifying, we were definitely quite far to match their pace. Yesterday, the race pace was very strong but let’s wait and see tomorrow. If we have a good race pace, I feel like it can be a strong race for us and a good opportunity to score good points. We didn’t want to sacrifice too much of the race pace to be better in qualifying. I think P7 is the best result we could do today.” – Charles explained.
