The internal challenge at Ferrari between Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc seems to have started already in the first two days of activity at Fiorano. Ferrari will probably be the team most in the spotlight in the upcoming season. Between Lewis Hamilton’s arrival and an SF-24 shrouded in mystery, one of the topics to consider will be the internal rivalry between Ferrari’s two drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
On one side, the Monegasque can rely on a multi-year renewal, while on the other hand, the Spanish ex-McLaren driver still needs to find a seat for the next year. Between the early arrival at Sauber and the Mercedes option, Carlos Sainz will have to make the most of 2024 to showcase his skills to ensure he continues to be part of the grid.
In this perspective, the direct comparison with Charles Leclerc could perhaps represent the best business card for the Spanish driver, who comes from a racing family. Last year, it was indeed the number 55 who secured the only non-Red Bull victory of the season. A victory in Singapore, coupled with the Monza pole, once again emphasized Carlos Sainz’s talent.
The challenge for 2024 is already underway at Fiorano
Observing a video published by Ferrari on social media, it can be seen that the challenge between the two drivers of the Red Team has already started at Fiorano. In fact, after a more intimate presentation compared to previous ones, the SF-24 immediately hit the track at the home circuit for the customary shakedown and filming day.

Precisely in these two days of activity, amid the warmth of the Tifosi and some already tested technical innovations, the challenge between Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc seems to have begun. In the aforementioned video, Charles Leclerc is seen being filmed by Robert Shwartzman after noticing that the Monegasque driver was timing his teammate’s lap.
“Are you really timing it?” were the words of the Russian driver. “Of course, yes,” was Charles Leclerc’s immediate response.
The challenge has been thrown, awaiting to see what the level of the latest Ferrari single-seater will be in a transitional year, but at the same time, hoping it might mark a return to success.
