Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen, who have known each other since childhood, spent a long time chatting after the race, discussing each other’s maneuvers and sharing some laughs.
What a chaotic start
At the conclusion of the Mexico City Grand Prix, the cameras caught the evident camaraderie between Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen. The two, as often happens when both finish the race on the podium, spent considerable time talking, both after stepping out of their cars and inside the post-podium room. This area allows drivers to review highlights from the just-finished race and provide their initial impressions and reactions.
While waiting for Lando Norris, who was still busy with interviews, the two star drivers from Ferrari and Red Bull enjoyed reliving the incredibly tense moments from the start. They even joked about each other’s misadventures on the grass. Charles Leclerc admitted, “I didn’t have a great start, but that actually saved me,” while Max Verstappen reacted with a telling “oh my God” as they watched the four-car battle into Turn 1 involving Norris, Verstappen himself, Lewis Hamilton, and Charles Leclerc.
A bit of rally
The Monegasque driver also made an interesting comment, at one point seeming to say, “I wish I could have chosen the C3,” referring to the tire compound that Pirelli had deliberately not made available for this race, instead providing only the C2, C4, and C5 options, which had sparked considerable debate due to the so-called “tire gap.”
Soon after, their attention shifted to Max Verstappen’s off-track moment at Turn 1, where the Dutchman had cut the corner, driving in counter-steer on the grass and nearly hitting the protective barriers. In the background, Charles Leclerc can be heard exclaiming “ooooh” as Max Verstappen approached the wall, narrowly avoiding it by just a few centimeters. The four-time Formula 1 world champion, on the other hand, laughed and commented succinctly, “I did a bit of rally…”
