Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris weren’t surprised by Carlos Sainz’s victory at the 5.278-kilometre Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne on Sunday. According to the two drivers, the Spaniard is not underestimated, and the paddock recognizes his true value.

Carlos Sainz’s victory in Melbourne reminded everyone that it’s still uncertain if he’ll have a seat for the next Formula 1 season after failing to renew with the Maranello team. Moreover, the fact that number 55 achieved victory after surgery made the feat even more remarkable.

Thus, in the post-race press conference, Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris responded to questions regarding Carlos Sainz’s future and value. Especially Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz’s current Ferrari teammate, is convinced that the Spaniard won’t have trouble finding a team for the next season after leaving the Italian side at the end of the championship.

“I think everyone knows Carlos’s value in the paddock. He’s one of the highest-scoring drivers in the paddock. He’s been extremely strong every time he’s been in a Formula 1 car. And I’m sure he’ll have many opportunities and will just have to make the best choice for his career,” Charles Leclerc continues.

Lando Norris echoes him: “Charles is right, he’s telling the truth. There’s no reason why anyone should think he’s underestimated. I think people who know him, know what he’s capable of, they know his level of commitment, his approach, and his dedication.” – the McLaren man pointed out.

“I’m sure there are many drivers who probably wouldn’t have put in as much effort and wouldn’t have dedicated so much time and effort to try to recover and get back into the racing car. And I think this is just one example. Everyone knows it, he’ll find his team,” concluded the British driver.
