Charles Leclerc Dismisses Ferrari Exit Rumors and Reaffirms Commitment to Team’s Championship Goals
Charles Leclerc has firmly rejected speculation suggesting he is considering leaving Scuderia Ferrari, expressing astonishment at the recent reports questioning his faith in the team’s Formula 1 project. The Monegasque driver clarified that he remains deeply committed to Ferrari’s long-term vision and reiterated his determination to help restore the Italian team to championship-winning form.
The rumors emerged ahead of the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix, where Ferrari has already been forced to confront a swirl of speculation—most notably, suggestions that team principal Frédéric Vasseur could be replaced following a less-than-stellar start to the season. These claims have coincided with reports implying that Leclerc, frustrated by the team’s current trajectory, might be weighing up an early exit from the Maranello-based outfit.
According to an Italian publication, the Monegasque driver is reportedly unsure whether Ferrari can deliver a car capable of challenging for the title once the 2026 technical regulations take effect. However, the five-time Grand Prix winner has unequivocally denied any intention to leave, underlining that his focus remains on returning Ferrari to the top of the F1 pecking order.
Charles Leclerc told media, including ScuderiaFans.com, that he was genuinely surprised by the rumors. He insisted he had no idea where the speculation originated and stressed that such claims were completely baseless. He made it clear he had never expressed dissatisfaction in recent races and, on the contrary, had consistently voiced how passionate he is about the team and how strongly he desires to bring Ferrari back to winning ways. He found it surprising that such narratives continue to emerge despite his unwavering loyalty.
The Ferrari driver also aligned himself with team-mate Lewis Hamilton in defending Fred Vasseur’s leadership. Charles Leclerc emphasized that he, Lewis Hamilton, and Fred Vasseur are united by a shared vision for the team’s resurgence, and they are collaboratively working to execute a long-term plan to return Ferrari to the top step of the podium. He stressed the importance of staying committed to that roadmap and voiced his belief that consistency in leadership is key to the team’s success.
Charles Leclerc, who is locked into a long-term contract with Ferrari, acknowledged that he has grown used to dealing with constant speculation around the team. He noted that pressure is an ever-present reality at Ferrari, where finishing second is never acceptable. While outside commentary can be distracting, Charles Leclerc emphasized that the internal pressure they place on themselves is far more significant. The team, he said, fully understands that current performances are not meeting expectations, and every member is working relentlessly to turn things around.
He added that Ferrari’s recent struggles compared to rivals like McLaren are evident, and it is now up to the Scuderia to respond with improvements on track. The Monegasque underlined that despite the noise, the team’s focus remains on performance, not the media narrative.
Charles Leclerc concluded by acknowledging that, over time, he has developed a thick skin when it comes to rumors and the external scrutiny that comes with driving for Ferrari. He remarked that while such stories are often fueled by media questions and not always enjoyable to confront, they are part of life at a team with Ferrari’s history and prestige. Importantly, he does not believe that these external distractions are affecting the team’s morale or direction.
As Ferrari aims to bounce back and reassert itself as a title contender, Charles Leclerc’s message is clear: he remains fully committed to the mission and determined to help guide the team through its current challenges.
