L’Officiel Italia: Do you remember the first Formula 1 Grand Prix you saw?
Charles Leclerc: I was still a child, I had a friend whose apartment had a balcony overlooking the Monte Carlo circuit. Obviously, I always cheered for the red cars, which has always been a special color for me, even if I didn’t yet know that Ferrari existed. I repeat, I am living my dream as a child.

L’Officiel Italia: Your favorite driver?
Charles Leclerc: My idol has always been Ayrton Senna, from what I could see from documentaries and talking to people who knew him, I discovered that he was a special person, not only behind the wheel, perhaps the best in history, but also as a human being. After his death, they discovered that he donated more than $ 400 million to charity to help educate Brazilian children. He will always be a myth, and not just for me.
L’Officiel Italia: There’s been a lot of talk lately about mental health in sports. How do you keep your focus?
Charles Leclerc: Even though I drive at 300 km per hour I am a human being, I alternate between good moments and difficult moments, I am not a superhero. To maximize my concentration, even though I have always been good at managing moments of tension, I have been doing breathing exercises since I was a boy. They help me stay calm, they are part of the job of reaching a level of concentration that helps me maximize my potential. Preparing for the race is 90% of the work, you have to think about everything, from strategies to teamwork.
