The Aston Martin Formula 1 team confirmed yesterday that Lance Stroll would not be able to take part in the winter pre-season testing session which takes place this week due to an injury he suffered in training.
On Thursday the ten teams will hit the track at the Bahrain International Circuit for the first day of pre-season testing, but Aston Martin have announced that one driver will have to miss out. The team did not provide more details regarding the type of injuries Lance Stroll suffered, but did confirmed they were minor and had been sustained due to a bicycle crash which took place while training in Spain.
The Silverstone based team confirmed that the Canadian driver should recover in time to take part in the first round of the 2023 Formula 1 season next weekend, which is also scheduled to take place at the Bahrain International Circuit. However, Lance Stroll’s condition will be evaluated day by day and the final call regarding his participation in the Sakhir event will be confirmed next week:
“I’ve had an unfortunate accident whilst training on my bike in preparation for the season. I am determined to get back in the car and I am excited about the season ahead with the team. I am motivated to bounce back from this setback as quickly as possible.” – Lance Stroll posted on his social media accounts.

Aston Martin now have to decide if Fernando Alonso will be the one replacing his teammate and therefore running for the full the days of testing or whether one of the team’s reserve drivers, Stoffel Vandoorne or Felipe Drugovitch, will get the chance to drive the car in Bahrain.
In the meanwhile, Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz did not let this incident go unnoticed and wanted to post a message of support for the Canadian driver: “I hope you are okey, Lance Stroll, and that you have a speedy recovery. See you soon on track mate.💪🏼💪🏼” – the Ferrari man wrote on his Twitter and Instagram accounts.
