The Spaniard from the Prancing Horse welcomes the podium at Spielberg with pleasant surprise. Looking forward to the British stage, Carlos Sainz announces Ferrari updates for Silverstone with hopes of saying goodbye to the annoying bouncing.
The checkered flag at the Austrian Grand Prix delivers third place to Carlos Sainz. After an unexpected podium, the Ferrari driver spoke to Sky Italia, looking ahead to the English weekend.
Carlos Sainz Welcomes an Unexpected Podium
In Austria, Ferrari couldn’t have done more, according to Carlos Sainz Jr: “We were always fourth or fifth, fighting with George. Today, McLaren was flying. I’m happy with the result; we didn’t expect the podium, although it might be a missed opportunity because it’s the second weekend we finish behind Mercedes. Today, it was clear that George, like in the Sprint, was a tenth faster than us.”
Ferrari: New Updates for Silverstone
In Northamptonshire, the Prancing Horse aims to return as at least the third force. One of the main issues plaguing the SF-24 is bouncing, the annoying hopping in fast sections that severely limits the red car’s performance. “At the factory, they are working flat out to bring a better package to Silverstone that will help us a bit in the fast corners. We suffered this weekend.” – the Spanish driver explained.

In the paddock, there is a suspicion that Ferrari’s latest updates have worsened the bouncing problem, even though they have brought some advantages. “We’re trying everything to eliminate [the bouncing]. I’m confident the team will find the solution. I don’t know how soon, but I hope we can do something already at Silverstone. The bouncing definitely penalizes us in qualifying and even a bit in the race.”
“Tomorrow afternoon, I’ll be on the simulator working to improve for Silverstone,” explains Carlos Sainz. “In the meantime, it’s nice to bring home a podium today. Let me enjoy the opportunity of being a Ferrari driver on the podium and drinking some champagne. Perhaps next year, it won’t be like this,” he concludes, hinting at his 2025 future, likely outside Ferrari and possibly even away from a top team that can offer consistent podiums.
