Carlos Sainz speaking after finishing second at the 2024 Formula 1 United States GP:

“Congratulations to the whole team, to Charles, for an amazing result that puts us exactly where we want to be in the fight for the Constructors’ Championship. I knew a lot of the race was going to be decided at the start. I knew Lando and Max were going to go hard into Turn 1 but unfortunately, I got the worst of it, and I couldn’t get that lead. Even though the pace from the on was really good and I was really fast, track position is really key and I had to settle for P2, which anyway was a good race. It’s definitely the strength of the car this year, how long we can go on stints and how little degradation we have. It’s something that I really enjoy and something that has made me enjoy racing this year a lot more than last year. Last year, we spent all of the races defending and losing positions. This year we can go on attack mode, don’t think too much about tyres, and just push and overtake, which is fun. I’m enjoying it a lot. I hope it stays like that until the end of the year.”
