Carlos Sainz will continue with Scuderia Ferrari until at least the end of the 2024 Formula 1 season after the Italian side officially confirmed earlier today that it has extended his contract for two more years.
The Spaniard joined the Maranello team on a two-year contract ahead of the 2021 Formula 1 championship and had the difficult task of partnering Charles Leclerc. Carlos Sainz went on to impress in his first campaign with Ferrari, finishing fifth in the standings, just ahead of the Monegasque driver.
For now, Carlos Sainz has not been able to match his Maranello teammate in the start of the current season, but a contract extension appeared to be a formality, with Ferrari very with the Spanish driver’s performances and the dynamic between its two drivers, who proved they work well togheter both on and off the track.
“I am very happy to have renewed my contract with Scuderia Ferrari. I have always said that there is no better Formula 1 team to race for and after over a year with them, I can confirm that putting on this race suit and representing this team is unique and incomparable. My first season at Maranello was solid and constructive, with the whole group progressing together. The result of all that work has been clear to see so far season.” – he said.
