Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz and Daniel Ricciardo are enjoying a playful little exchange in the media over their respective fashion senses.
Daniel Ricciardo has replaced Carlos Sainz at McLaren after the Spaniard joined Scuderia Ferrari at the beginning of the 2021 Formula 1 championship in order to replace Sebastian Vettel and the duo are set to play important roles in what is already looking like a McLaren v Ferrari battle for third place this season.
Daniel Ricciardo recently said in an interview with Square Mile that Carlos Sainz “dresses like a 60 year old, but otherwise he’s alright”, and Carlos Sainz has felt the sting with that one.
““It’s a difficult thing to take.”- Carlos Sainz said, in an interview for Sky Sports F1 – “But you cannot buy style and class! He still tries his fancy clothes but he will never know how to use a proper shirt and jersey like you and me!”.
Back when Daniel Ricciardo and Carlos Sainz were racing against each other as Renault and McLaren drivers respectively, Netflix tried to depict the two as fierce rivals in their ‘Drive to Survive’ series – but Daniel Ricciardo says there is nothing to that.
“I mean the second season, there were some episodes or parts where I feel they forced it a little bit,” Ricciardo said – “They tried to create a bit of a rivalry between me and Sainz and it wasn’t really there. Like, he’s no more a rival than anyone else. There wasn’t any personal grudge with him, but I think [Netflix] wanted something, so a lot of questions led with asking about Carlos. Maybe no one noticed, but for me, I was like, he’s fine. I’ve probably got other guys that I dislike, you know, as opposed to Carlos…” – he said.
