For Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz, the 2023 Formula 1 championship will be the third consecutive year as a Ferrari driver. The Spaniard encountered a few problems last year, especially at the beginning of the season in adapting to the characteristics of the F1-75 car, but in this year it seems that the SF-23 made him feel immediately at ease.
The goal is clear, namely to bring the world championship back to Maranello, but the target is very difficult and the fight will (hopefully) be close. For now Red Bull is certainly the favourite based on what could be seen during the three-day testing session at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, but we should also watch out for Mercedes and Aston Martin, who according to Carlos Sainz will give the Scuderia a lot of trouble.
“Three months without racing is too much – admitted Carlos Sainz, interviewed by Sky Sport in Bahrain ahead of the first round of the new championship – “The first races of last year, the ones where I had problems compromised my season: last week I gave so much importance to testing to be ready for the first race.” – the Spaniard pointed out.
Carlos Sainz then wanted to send a message to the Tifosi, who have high expectations for 2023 despite the difficulties noticed in the pre-season testing session: “I say to the fans that we will give our best, we have even more desire to help Ferrari do well and we are pushing hard to reach our goal of winning the Formula 1 world title.” – added Carlos, who was then asked about the SF-23 car, based on his impressions after the testing session:

“You can also like the car in terms of driving, but then you have to compare it with other cars, such as the Red Bull, which can go even faster. We don’t know yet, but our tests have been clean, we know the strengths and weaknesses of the SF-23, and that’s important. I think Red Bull, Aston Martin and Mercedes are in the fight, they are the teams that have been strongest in testing.” – the Ferrari man concluded.
