The test day at Fiorano with the 2021 SF-21 (the first Ferrari car of his career), but not only: to better prepare for the 2023 Formula One Championship, Carlos Sainz also found the time to make a stop at the Franciacorta Karting Track in Castrezzato in the province of Brescia, as well as supporting the track and simulator sessions organized by the Maranello team in the last few days.
Carlos Sainz got on board the Tony Kart Racer 401 RR, in KZ configuration and powered by Vortex, on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 January, accompanied by his compatriot Roberto Merhi (who was also on the Formula 1 grid together with Carlos Sainz in 2015 at the wheel of Marussia) and by Felix Porteiro .
The Ferrari driver then made another stop in Franciacorta last Friday after the test held at Fiorano for another day of karting in the company of his father Carlos Sainz senior. “The Ferrari driver worked closely with our staff on the Racer 401 RR setup, telemetry and track approach, significantly improving his lap time. Furthermore, taking advantage of the presence of his compatriots Merhi and Porteiro, he completed several race simulations” – informs a note published on the official Tony Kart website – “an opportunity not only to rediscover the origins of his sporting career, but also to spend some time in the company of old friends: Carlos, in fact, raced in the past as a representative of the brands of the OTK Kart Group and the Tony Kart Racing Team. We remember the victories at the CIK-FIA Asia-Pacific Championship in 2008 and at the Monaco Kart Cup in 2009 in the KF3 category, in addition to the title of European vice-champion from 2009”.
