Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz has outlined the areas where he believes he has made strides in the current Formula 1 campaign.
In his third season with the Maranello team, the Spaniard is facing a challenging period, alongside the Italian side.
After enduring two challenging seasons, Carlos Sainz made a triumphant return to the top podium last year, leading Scuderia Ferrari’s aspirations for a more consistent presence at the forefront of the grid in the ongoing championship.
However, early struggles with tire degradation issues impacted the Scuderia’s performance, resulting in their current fourth place standing in the Constructors’ Championship. Carlos Sainz, meanwhile, has yet to secure a podium finish this season, ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix which will be the first round after the summer break.
Despite these ongoing difficulties, Carlos Sainz pointed out that he has observed personal growth in specific aspects of his performance.
When questioned about rating his performance on a scale from one to five for the year so far, he responded to the media.
“I don’t do numbers like these. I never do because that is the headline.” – explained.
“Good: I think I’m driving well. I think I’ve done a step forward compared to last year with my feeling with the car, with the setup, with the preparation. Not good: The results and the consistency haven’t been as great as it’s been in the past. So it’s clearly what we need to focus on working [on].” – the Ferrari man continued.
Formula 1 is currently in the midst of its customary mid-season hiatus occurring during August.
This period provides teams and drivers with an opportunity to unwind before the commencement of the second phase of the season, which will include 10 remaining races for the year.
“I think the break is going to do everyone good,” added Carlos Sainz. “But I think especially for us, [it allows us] to reset the expectations the challenges that we have ahead. We will need to use that to our advantage.” – the Spaniard concluded.
