Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz admitted that rivals Red Bull did a better job than the Maranello team in the current Formula One championship this season, being more “consistent and strong” than the Italian side.
Despite the fact that Scuderia Ferrari started the 2022 F1 campaign in an impressive manner, with two race wins for Charles Leclerc in the first three rounds, Red Bull was able to hit back following their early season reliability issues.
The Dutchman secured a record-breaking 14th victory this year last weekend at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City, as the Red Bull man had already won the title at the end of the Suzuka event in Japan.
At the same time Red Bull have also secured the Constructors’ Championship, making it their first double in almost one decade.

And Carlos Sainz admitted that the Austrian side should get the credit they deserve.
“I don’t think I need to [give] any more [praise] to Max for what he’s done this year, because I think it’s pretty obvious that he’s done a very good job,” the Scuderia Ferrari driver said in an interview for the official Formula 1 website.
“Everyone can see how good he has performed and how well he’s executed this season, especially after not an easy start of the season with a couple of DNFs. They managed to recover and put together a lot of wins, a lot of good moments through the year [They kept] it consistent and strong in the areas where we haven’t been able to be that strong. Congratulations to him, congratulations to Red Bull, because they fully deserve it.” – the Spaniard added.
Carlos Sainz admitted that Red Bull’s triumphs in 2022 are mainly down to top driver, Max Verstappen.
The two were team-mates at Toro Rosso, but since then the Dutchman went gone on to take 34 race wins prix and has won two Formula One world titles.
Carlos Sainz wanted to share his admiration for Max Verstappen’s evolution as a driver.
“I think eight years in Formula 1 is a lot of years in Formula 1,” he said, “and since day one of Formula 1 to year eight you evolve massively. For sure he’s evolved in every single area. There is not one area where you haven’t evolved and the way that he’s managed to keep doing step by step, improving everything… because there’s nothing that we cannot improve in eight years. It’s fair play to him and now he’s maximising also having a competitive car, which is something that you need in Formula 1 in order to win. If not, you’re never going to win.” – Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz concluded.
