Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz finished the day at the top of the timesheets in Abu Dhabi, with a fabled Ferrari one-two-three result, as Carlos was followed by his Maranello teammates Charles Leclerc and Robert Shwartzman.
The winner of the 2022 Formula 1 Silverstone Grand Prix ended the post-season practice session at the Yas Marina circuit in first place, with a best lap time of 1:25.245 which was set in the afternoon’s running, when the Spaniard took over from teammate Charles Leclerc, who completed his testing programme in the same car during the morning session.
Robert Shwartzman got the chance to drive the F1-75 car for a full day as Ferrari fulfilled its rookie driver requirements in the second F1-75 challenger, with the Russian-Israeli racing driver finishing less than two tenths of a second off the pace on his 116-lap day. Some improvements in the final part of the test session meant that Robert Shwartzman was shuffled back to sixth place, only for the Ferrari test driver to return to the track and set a new personal best with 23 minutes left in the day to retake third place and finish just 0.017s off Charles Leclerc’s lap.
Frenchman Pierre Gasly finished a productive day for Alpine in P4 with 116 laps on the board. Dutchman Max Verstappen took over from his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez in the afternoon, finishing P5 and six tenths off the pace, ahead of the Williams duo of Alex Albon and newcomer Logan Sargeant.
