Like his Maranello teammate teammate, Spanish driver Carlos also spoke about an SF-24 different from the SF-23 in terms of simulator driving sensations. He explained that the goal of the work done to improve the Ferrari in all areas was to make it more predictable and with a larger operating window in terms of performance.
Carlos Sainz already knows that the SF-24 car will be his last Ferrari, but that hasn’t stopped him from expressing some emotion on the day of the presentation of the new prancing horse. Last year, the Spaniard was the only one capable of beating the Red Bulls, at the Singapore Grand Prix, but his hope is that his last year in Red will bring him a bit more satisfaction. Thus, he seems to be looking optimistically at the car created by the technicians of the prancing horse.
“The first time you see a car is always a special moment. It’s the first time you see the shapes, you see the colors, you see what we’ll be driving in 2024. And I’ve seen a completely different look, both in shapes and design. And this excites me because I can’t wait to drive it. I’ve been looking forward to this moment in the last two months, and it’s finally happening,” said Sainz in the video released by Ferrari immediately after revealing the shapes of the SF-24.
Regarding the work done in Maranello to try to make a step forward from the performance of the SF-23, he continued: “It’s all the technical feedback from last year’s car, combined with all the technical contributions from all the engineers. We spent many hours in the simulator, developing this car. So my feedback is purely a technical and driving point of view, and I hope the car goes faster. I think we’ve dedicated a lot of hours and a lot of emphasis on many small details of this car, which we hope will give us an extra advantage this year.” – he pointed out.

However, he didn’t want to go into too much detail about the sensations he felt in the simulator, confirming that they are different from the predecessor: “I don’t like to go into the specifics of how the car feels in the simulator because it’s obviously a very private thing for the team. But yes, the feeling is definitely different. The goal is for the car to give more confidence to the drivers and be better in terms of lap time because last year wasn’t easy. But this year I’m pretty sure we’ve taken steps in the right direction. Whether it will be enough or not, only time will tell.” – the Ferrari driver concluded soon after the official car presentation.
