According to various rumors, Scuderia Ferrari drivers Carlos Sainz should announce his Formula 1 future soon, as both teams and other drivers are losing patience. The most likely option for the Spaniard is a move to Williams, where he would benefit from Mercedes engines for the new cycle, but there are also open doors at Stake/Audi and, probably, at Alpine. The Ferrari driver himself gave some hints about his plans in a recent interview with Italian journalist Mara Sangiorgio: “In a difficult weekend like the Austrian Grand Prix, a podium is always nice and I want to enjoy it. Being a Ferrari driver in Formula 1 makes me emotional. I was thinking about it while spraying the champagne because maybe next year it won’t be like this.” – the Spaniard admitted at the end of the 2024 Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix.
However, some social media users noticed a suspicious “like” from Carlos Sainz’s account on a post that reads: “The best choice for Sainz, Mercedes, and Antonelli would be to give the latter a two-year contract at Williams, so he gains experience, and put Sainz in Mercedes for two years, so then he will be free to go to Audi from 2027.” Something doesn’t add up because Mercedes can achieve podiums, while his interview suggests he might go to a mid-field team. Only time will tell his final decision in a very broad market for the 2025 Formula 1 championship.
