F1 Brazil, Carlos Sainz 8th on the grid
Carlos Sainz is one of the drivers with highly evolved strategic intelligence. He has often been noted for his analytical clarity and ability to predict scenarios in team radio communications and post-race statements. That’s why it’s surprising that, with a very dark sky, the “Smooth Operator” stayed in the pit lane for too long and didn’t manage to communicate effectively with the team, missing out on the best that the track and weather had to offer to the drivers.
Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and the two Aston Martins, not coincidentally, secured the most favorable weather window, occupying the top four spots on the starting grid.
Carlos Sainz was left battling with the other “latecomers,” just as the rain was about to arrive. He finished in eighth place, which couldn’t satisfy the #55, who commented on his Saturday like this:
Carlos Sainz’s words: “I thought there was more room for us, but all of this was ruined by the bad weather. We were among the last to go out of the pit lane, and with cold tires, dropping temperatures, and gusty winds, it was really challenging to do more.” – he pointed out.
“We were unlucky. Our pace in Q2 wasn’t bad, so I’m a bit disappointed because we left the pit lane too late, and in the end, we missed the opportunity to put in a good lap. I start in eighth place on this grid, but I had overtaken all the drivers ahead of me in the previous sessions. Today, those who left the pit lane later had the worst consequences: I started eighth and finished eighth.” – Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz concluded at the end of the qualifying session for the Brazilian Grand Prix.
