There are concerns regarding Scuderia Ferrari Carlos Sainz’s participation in the Monaco Grand Prix next weekend following his involvement in a charity football match where he was photographed receiving treatment for his leg.
The Spaniard joined several Formula 1 drivers, including his Maranello teammate Charles Leclerc and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly, in the match which was held on Thursday event in Monaco. As a result, his appearance in this weekend’s grand prix was uncertain after images showed him receiving treatment on his right thigh.
During the match, the Ferrari driver had to be substituted shortly after the 60-minute mark. He was subsequently seen on the sidelines with his leg wrapped and a worried expression on his face.
The charity football match, organized by the Children Sports Association, is an annual event which brings together drivers and other Formula 1 team members to play against a ‘Star’ team ahead of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc was chosen as the captain of the team, which included notable figures such as Fernando Alonso, Gasly, and even F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.
Thankfully, following yesterday’s charity football match, Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz confirmed on his Instagram account that the injury is in fact nothing serious and Carlos will therefore be 100% ready for the next round of the 2023 Formula One championship, the Monaco Grand Prix on the streets of Monte Carlo.
