Hungarian Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz fires up Ferrari
Scuderia Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz was not satisfied with his tenth-place finish at Silverstone, and he arrived in Hungary with the desire to perform well and the determination of someone who knows they can achieve a good result. The Spanish driver has not yet secured a podium this year and would like to end this streak as soon as possible, also to bounce back from some weekends that have seen him at the center of controversies, both due to track limit penalties at the Red Bull Ring and Ferrari’s decision to prioritize Charles Leclerc’s performance more than they did in the past.
The contract
Can these episodes ruin Carlos Sainz’s relationship with Ferrari? The Spanish driver, whose contract expires at the end of the 2024 Formula 1 championship, is not thinking about the future: “In Ferrari, we have other priorities to address today, and there are many back-to-back races. During the winter break, I will start thinking about where to race in 2025, but for now, the priority is to bring Ferrari back to the top.” – the Ferrari man explained.
Carlos Sainz’s comments
“I hope that things go better at Hungaroring and that it suits our car more. Unfortunately, our car is very sensitive to weather and track conditions; we know that we have some weak points that make us vulnerable to these factors. However, if the conditions are favorable for our car, we could be quite strong here,” said the Spanish driver in the press conference at Hungaroring. “It would be nice to achieve our first podium of the year here; this is a track that I quite like. If the car allows me, I will definitely try.” – the Spaniard continued during the press conference for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
“At Silverstone, we understood our issues, and even before that, I had said to wait until the British Grand Prix because it was a high-speed track with strong winds,” Carlos Sainz pointed out – . “I knew we had made some progress, but with such a tight battle behind the Red Bull and Max, one day we may be a tenth ahead, and another day we may be a tenth behind. It’s a fluctuation of two tenths that can change the outcome of the entire weekend because you can go from the podium to 7th or 8th place: the result changes a lot, but the performance you gain or lose is not that high. It’s a matter of tracks: one day Mercedes is better, another day Aston Martin, and another day McLaren. We shouldn’t overreact but be aware that there will be weekends that are more or less positive.” – Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz concluded on Thursday in Budapest.
