Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz made a quick pit-stop in Madrid before heading to Russia to get back to work, as the Maranello team gets ready for the next round of the 2021 Formula 1 season, the Russian Grand Prix.
The Spaniard is also ready to face the end of the season, when it is time to make the final push on the track while the entire factory is already looking ahead to the 2022 championship.
2022 is practically just around the corner. In three months the long-awaited regulatory change arrives, for which many teams have been preparing for some time. At Ferrari they have been working on the new car since January and Carlos Sainz shares, in figures, the team’s dedication to the future project compared to the current one. “It will be a reset, such a big change that it’s going to be a start from scratch for everyone. What I want is to be as prepared as possible for that change,” Carlos Sainz said, in a press conference organized by Estrella Galicia 0,0, as reported by digital portal SoyMotor.
“We have been working since January on next year’s car. In the simulator it’s 90% next year and 10% preparing for this year’s Grands Prix. The discussions in the factory are about next year’s car,” he detailed.

In Maranello the entire team is well aware that they are facing a unique opportunity to return to dominance and want to be ready when it comes. “We have to make sure we leave nothing undone and give ourselves a fighting chance to win,” he added.
There is talk of Alpine’s ‘Plan’, but Carlos points out that they all have a plan which they are working tirelessly on to fight their way back to the top.
“Of course we have a plan, everyone does. Ours has been in the works for years with this unique opportunity. I think everyone will be working, they see in 2022 a unique opportunity to match the strongest forces that are Mercedes and Red Bull,” said Carlos Sainz in conclusion.
