Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz confirmed that he is ready to face the pressure of a title fight ahead of the 2022 Formula 1 season, in the hope that the Maranello team will be able to get involved in the challenge for race wins and most importantly the F1 world championships.
The 2021 F1 season was marked by a very close and exciting battle between Red Bull and Mercedes who went wheel-to-wheel until the last lap of the final race of the season, while Ferrari finished in third place, but was well aware from the start that it could not be involved in that battle for first place. This led to the decision of shifting the focus and resources on this season’s project.
In theory this should represent a slight advantage for the Maranello team, who was therefore able to study and understand the new rules better. The Ferrari F1-75 car is designed based on the new philosophy in mind, as Formula 1 saying farewell to over-car airflow and instead moves to a ground effect concept for aerodynamics.
It is the start of a completely new and hopefully a much more interesting one, in which Ferrari wants to be fully ready to get back on top. Many pundits believe Ferrari could be quick out of the blocks in 2022 and if that happens, Carlos Sainz says he is ready for a title fight:

“The pressure doesn’t scare me, because I’ve been dreaming about it my whole life. I want to fight for grand prix wins and World titles and that’s what I’m looking forward to and that’s what I’m working towards. When I wake up and fall asleep, I have this wish in the back of my mind and I’m happy when the moment comes. We had the chance to fight for pole and win in Monaco last year and it was the first time in my career that I was in that situation. And I loved it, so I’m looking forward to the next opportunity.” – the Spanish driver said, as reported by Speedweek.com.
The new Ferrari F1-75 car has already completed its first run, with Ferrari putting in the laps at their Fiorano track last week. Carlos Sainz and his team-mate Charles Leclerc will return to the track in just a few days, as the first official pre-season testing session takes place this week at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Barcelona.
For now, Carlos has pinpointed the importance of having a reliable start to the three-day outing in Spain:
“These will probably be the most important tests of recent years in Formula 1. We will bring a completely new car and there will be a lot to learn. I think our laps will be a bit compromised because we will have to help the team both in the simulator and in the wind tunnel for the comparison of the data and the set-up tests that we didn’t need to do with last year’s cars. The tests will be important, we will have to invest a little more time on the set-up and try to find a good feeling with the car as soon as possible. Until this goal is achieved, I believe we will have cars that are difficult to push to the limit.” – Carlos Sainz explained.
