Carlo Vanzini used strong words in commenting on the disaster caused by Ferrari during qualifying for the Imola GP, with Charles Leclerc apologizing to the fans.
What was seen during the Imola GP qualifying was a true disaster, with the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton failing to make it into the top ten. The Maranello team arrived at what is essentially its home race with an SF-25 that, while showing good race pace, suffered from serious issues over a single lap.
This explains the disappointing result, which led some groups of fans to leave the grandstands early—something never seen before and a clear sign of the difficult moment Ferrari is going through.
Carlo Vanzini attacks the Scuderia from Maranello
The performance of the Scuderia led Carlo Vanzini to harshly comment on what happened on Saturday in Imola. “Words have run out. I think Leclerc summed it all up by rightly apologizing to the fans—there’s nothing more to add. All that can be done is apologize to the fans, look each other in the eye, go back to Maranello and ask, ‘What have we done?’ The shame of not qualifying in the top ten at Imola had never happened before.”
Regarding Fred Vasseur’s position, Carlo Vanzini had no doubts. “I continue to defend him because I don’t think there are other figures at that level around. But it’s necessary to intervene in the department, even in terms of physical tools. Nothing is salvageable. At Mercedes, there’s Simone Resta working on the 2025 car while James Allison is designing next year’s car. At Ferrari, I don’t see any prominent figures capable of doing this. They need to look each other in the eye and decide what to do for this team. It’s understandable if one race or one season goes badly, but this has been going on since 2008. It’s time to stop and stop being stubborn with this car. Because if you waste time trying to make this car work at the expense of the 2026 project, then it’s completely wrong.”
“I repeat, I think Leclerc summed up the situation in the best possible way. Charles apologized to the fans, but maybe someone should be apologizing to Charles.”
