In some recent interviews, Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc has said that he’s not worried about McLaren’s progress this year. However, during the Qatar Grand Prix, the Woking team has proven to be very fast for the Italian side, monopolizing the front row in the Sprint race and even leading in Friday’s qualifying before the application of track limits. Italian journalist Carlo Vanzini, though, has warned about the papaya-colored team, especially for the 2024 Formula 1 campaign, even though Scuderia Ferrari has an ace up its sleeve.
“Charles has said that he’s not concerned about McLaren for the rest of the season, but he should be for 2024. The team has been upfront since the unveiling, saying that we would see a new car at the ninth race, and that’s how it turned out. However, Ferrari is the only one not to have the solutions that these other teams are adopting, namely narrower holes and more sculpted sidepods. This means that there is a lot of room for improvement next year by redesigning the car, but there’s also a question mark regarding the performance of a larger car compared to those who have already moved in this direction,” explained the Italian journalist following the Qatar Grand Prix, which was held last weekend at the Lusail International circuit.
