Let’s take a look at the qualifying telemetry and race simulations for all teams based on the data from the second practice session for the Canadian GP
Single lap comparison: Max Verstappen vs Charles Leclerc

It has is already been confirmed that Charles Leclerc will take at least a ten-place grid penalty and for the Maranello team the best decision would now be to actually take the fourth power unit at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and start from the back of the grid.
That being said judging by the RPM on 8th gear, Ferrari has a smidge more power to use still and Charles Leclerc doesn’t quite push all the way to finish line, but also the fact that the Monegasque driver doesn’t use 8th gear on the straight to T8 with DRS.
Again, Ferrari seems close or on par here, but most likely Charles is not going to take part in the entire qualifying session.
Free practice race simulations: Sergio Perez vs Charles Leclerc vs Max Verstappen vs Carlos Sainz:

Carlos Sainz pace looks very impressive, despite being on the softs he’s about the same time as Verstappen on the mediums through the whole stint, and when switched to mediums he’s obviously fast given the lower fuel but tyre deg looks very good overall. Similar analysis for Charles Leclerc. Contrary to the qualifying lap however, Sergio Perez has a good race sim, better than in the first free practice session.
All teams race sims, 85s cutoff

Alpine and Aston Matin look strong, in particular Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso. Their pace does indeed seem to be true.
Pierre Gasly has a long and consistent stint just a bit slower than Sebastian Vettel.
George Russell much better than in the first free practice session at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, very long stint and good times aligned with the 2 above.
McLaren missing something with Lando Norris.
Kevin Magnussen not great although he was on very old Hard tyres.
It does seem closer across the board in race trim. Interesting race, recovering from penalty could be tough for Charles Leclerc. Unfortunately Max Verstappen is likely to win, but let’s hope that Carlos Sainz can be a real threat pace-wise, especially if he qualifies ahead.
