The 2023 Formula 1 car produced by Scuderia Ferrari’s racing department hasn’t fulfilled the expectations of fans who were hoping for more from this ongoing season. Wondering when Ferrari will be capable of competing for the top positions again is quite common, especially after the recent words from Cardile. On the Friday of Monza, Frédéric Vasseur spoke about the issues with the car, with an eye on 2024 in pursuit of Red Bull.
Fred Vasseur’s words, the team principal of the Italian team, aimed to explain the ongoing processes at Maranello to the media present at the Monza circuit in view of the Italian Grand Prix:
“A journalist in the press room asked, ‘Enrico Cardile has said that Ferrari has understood its problems in 2023. Can you solve them in the short term, or will we have to wait until 2024?'”
“When you want to improve, you have to do two things. First, you need to understand your weaknesses, and the second thing is to eliminate them,” he began. “Now I believe we have a better idea of our shortcomings. We are working on them to improve before the end of the current championship, or at least for the next year.”

“Do you think you can catch up with Red Bull in one winter?” The question didn’t catch the Frenchman at the helm of the Prancing Horse off guard. “I honestly don’t think that’s the question. We have to try to improve ourselves: that’s the best thing we can do,” he continued. “Then we’ll see the result. I’m not in Christian’s (Horner’s) wind tunnel, and I don’t know what they are doing. We don’t always have to compare ourselves to others. At least during the development phase, we have to look at ourselves. Next year will be a different story,” Fred Vasseur concluded in the press conference at Monza.
