Just hours before the start of FP1 in São Paulo, the American team Haas announced in a statement that Kevin Magnussen will not participate in the first practice session due to an illness.

Ferrari Driver Academy member and official Haas reserve driver Oliver Bearman will take his place at the wheel of the American car in the first free practice session which will take place at the 4.309-kilometre Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Brazil. The entire team also wanted to send wishes for a speedy recovery to the Dane, stating that further information regarding the health status of driver number 20 will be provided as time goes on.
