Warner Bros. has released a new Italian trailer for the film F1, set to hit theaters on June 25. Brad Pitt plays a former Formula One driver who returns to the Circus to mentor his young teammate; inevitably, this leads to a fierce rivalry.
The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick), throws us into the top tier of motorsport like never before. Filming began in summer 2023 at Silverstone and faced setbacks due to the writers’ strike that year, which halted all Hollywood productions.
In addition to Pitt, the cast includes: Javier Bardem, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia, Shea Whigham, Joseph Balderrama, Sarah Niles, Samson Kayo, Callie Cooke, and Layne Harper.
The movie will also feature real Formula 1 drivers, as it was filmed during various Grand Prix events. From Lewis Hamilton – who is among the executive producers – to Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and George Russell.
F1: The film’s plot
Known as “the greatest promise never fulfilled,” Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was the most brilliant talent in Formula 1 during the 1990s. Until a crash on track nearly ended his career.
Thirty years later, Sonny makes a living as a journeyman driver when he is approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), now the owner of a struggling Formula 1 team on the brink of collapse. Ruben manages to convince Sonny to return to Formula 1 as a last hope to save the team and prove himself as the best driver in the world.
Sonny will race alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), a young rookie determined to make his own rules within the team. But as the engines roar, the past resurfaces, and Sonny realizes that in Formula 1, your teammate is your fiercest competition. And the road to redemption is not one you can take alone.
