During an interview in Maranello, Ferrari’s Team Principal, Frederic Vasseur, unveiled some of the secret areas of the GES that are typically hidden from the public. The former Alfa Romeo leader, who has been at the helm of the Prancing Horse for almost a year now, revealed what a typical day in his office looks like, also showcasing one of the most critical areas within Ferrari’s Gestione Sportiva, the Remote Garage.
A Typical Day for Frederic Vasseur at Ferrari and the GES Remote Garage
“I arrive at 7:15 in the morning, so I can prepare my work calmly,” said the Draveil manager in an interview with TG1. “I never separate from this coin with the drivers’ numbers, which I used to decide who would drive the car first (the SF23 at Fiorano in February, note).”
“Carlos Sainz’s victory in Singapore is my first,” Fred Vasseur added, speaking about the recent win at Marina Bay, which allowed the Prancing Horse to break Red Bull’s dominance in a season completely dominated by the Austrians. Stress, excitement, and a reward for the team. It’s not an easy year. We know what the weak points are, and we will try not to repeat the mistakes.”
Fred Vasseur is well aware that the success in Singapore will not be enough to forget a season that has been somewhat disappointing, given the high expectations. The Frenchman inherited the last project signed by Mattia Binotto, and the first real assessments of his work will come in the next season.
“I’ll show you a room where cameras usually don’t enter; it’s called the Remote Garage. Here, about sixty engineers work in real-time during the Grand Prix, in coordination with those on the track, even if they are thousands of kilometers apart. My role is to make the final decisions and take responsibility, especially if something goes wrong.”
In the end, the allure of Formula 1 lies in these details as well. A team composed of hundreds, if not thousands, of people must coordinate perfectly between engineers on the track and those in the factory to achieve a single result: victory.

Finally, towards the end of the interview, the French Team Principal also wanted to say a few words in Italian to the Scuderia’s fans: “Thank you for the support, it’s very important to us.” Now, it’s on to Austin, with Ferrari chasing second place in the constructors’ championship against Mercedes. Here’s the video of the interview.
