The weather has worsened today in Catalonia, affecting the second day of pre-season testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen the only drivers on track so far
The direct comparison between Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari SF26 and Max Verstappen’s Red Bull RB22 could have been the highlight of day two in Barcelona. However, the rain forecasted for the afternoon arrived early, forcing the two 1997-born drivers to remain in the garage after completing just a few laps. Charles Leclerc later returned to the track on full wet tires, followed shortly after by Max Verstappen.
Charles Leclerc posted an unofficial best of 1’20.844, while Verstappen experienced a brief off-track excursion at Turn 5. The incident caused no damage to the RB22, which returned to the track soon after.
For now, Ferrari and Red Bull are the only teams to have taken to the track on this second day of testing. It remains to be seen whether the weather will allow other teams to accumulate more kilometers after yesterday’s strong start, when most teams completed significant running. Audi was the only team to encounter major issues, keeping the R26 in the garage for the entire afternoon.
