After FP1, it’s time for FP2 on Friday at the Bahrain GP, with particular focus on the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, the two McLaren cars, and Max Verstappen’s Red Bull, fresh off his victory in the Bahrain GP. Follow our live coverage of FP2 at the Bahrain GP.
What is the ideal setup in Bahrain?
The Bahrain International Circuit, located in Sakhir, stretches over 5,412 meters and is one of the most modern and versatile tracks on the Formula 1 calendar. Inaugurated in early 2004, it was designed from the outset to become a benchmark in motorsport.
One of the distinctive features of this venue is its variety of layouts, which allows for great flexibility depending on the needs of different racing series. F1 fans will particularly remember the Outer layout, used in 2020 for the second race in Bahrain, when the pandemic drastically reshaped the original season schedule.
Weather forecast for the Sakhir weekend
The heat is expected to return in Bahrain. This is an important factor to consider, especially since Ferrari was forced to “open up” the gills on the engine cover during testing to avoid overheating issues. We’ll see whether, a few months later, the Scuderia has resolved that problem.
Will the SF-25 struggle in Bahrain’s heat?
During pre-season testing, Ferrari had already opened four vents when temperatures in Bahrain were around 20°C at most. At that time, the team tested the car with both one vent and four. Now, compared to February, daytime temperatures in Sakhir are around 40°C.
