This weekend marks the occurrence of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, the solitary Italian race on this year’s schedule following the cancellation of the Imola race due to flooding in the Emilia-Romagna region earlier this spring. Monza boasts a rich history of hosting more world championship Grands Prix than any other circuit. As is customary, a sizable gathering of home supporters is anticipated to grace the event, lending their backing to the Scuderia.
Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, along with the entire Maranello team, are banking on this fervent support and aspire to reciprocate with a strong performance. Their aim is to extract the utmost from the SF-23, a car that has presented its challenges throughout this season, even if it has managed to secure second place on certain tracks behind the dominant championship leader.
Monza now stands as the solitary circuit renowned for its high-speed attributes, often dubbed the “temple of speed.” This reputation was solidified after tracks like Hockenheim, Silverstone, and the Osterreichring underwent modifications over the years. Monza offers a blend of swift corners and lengthy straights, punctuated by chicanes designed to temper the speed, thereby demanding adept maneuvering during heavy braking. This scenario unfolds notably at the initial chicane, where cars must decelerate from 340 to 80 km/h within just 150 meters, and at the Roggia chicane.
The Parabolica, a famous corner on the track, was renamed in honor of Michele Alboreto in 2021. It represents a lengthy, high-speed curve that leads onto the primary straight, underscoring the significance of effective traction on exit and a streamlined car setup.

Ferrari reserve driver Antonio Giovinazzi, whose first win as a factory Ferrari driver came at the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans, spoke about the championship in an interview with Sky Sport F1 ahead the Monza Grand Prix:
“I hope our colors bring luck to a Ferrari team that has struggled in this last race. However, Monza is a unique track, similar to Spa and Baku where Ferrari has performed well. And the fans give you an extra 2-3 tenths. Let’s hope it’s a good weekend. There will be many supporters in the stands, and a great result is the best way to repay them. Advice for Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz? Max Verstappen can be beaten, even though he’s proving to be incredibly strong. He never makes mistakes. He has an amazing car and a great team, but if a bit of luck goes our way and we execute everything perfectly, we can beat them.” – Antonio Giovinazzi concluded.
