Former Ferrari Driver Academy member Antonio Giovinazzi, who currently drivers for with Ferrari customer team Alfa Romeo, opened up about the Maranello team’s line-up and his prospects of one day driving for the Italian side.
Antonio Giovinazzi, who will most likely lose his place at Alfa Romeo for the 2022 Formula One season, still has the support of Scuderia Ferrari and remains hopeful that he will eventually drive for the Maranello team in Formula One, despite the fact that he expects current drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to remain with the Italian side for a few seasons.
“I’m focused on myself, this is what we always do and I try to improve myself and then we will see what will happen,” Antonio Giovinazzi said in a recent interview.
“To focus on other drivers is not something that will make myself better, so I just focus on myself. It’s the dream [to race with Ferrari] but of course I know that Carlos [Sainz] will be there for a few years, and as well Charles [Leclerc].” – he added.
Despite the fact that he will not race in Formula 1 next season, the Italian driver, the Italian driver is grateful for Ferrari’s support: “I’m part of that family as well and it’s great to feel the support from Ferrari. Now I’m racing for Alfa Romeo and I want to do the best job here so far. I’m sure that I’m doing a good job here and then we will see what the future will bring.” – he explained.
A few weeks ago, Antonio Giovinazzi admitted that he had hoped to be able to receive the opportunity to race with Ferrari in the 2021 Formula One season and was disappointed to have missed out on the chance as the Maranello team decided to replace Sebastian Vettel with Carlos Sainz.
