Alfa Romeo team manager Beat Zehnder says it is “a pleasure” to be working once again with Kimi Raikkonen, after the pair worked together when Kimi Raikkonen made his Formula 1 debut for Sauber back in 2001, and the Finn has now returned to the same Hinwil based team for the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
After three races in the 2019 Formula 1 championship, Kimi Raikkonen is ‘best of the rest’ behind the six drivers of Mercedes, Scuderia Ferrari and Red Bull: “It’s simply a pleasure to work with Kimi,” Beat Zehnder said, as reported by Blick newspaper earlier today – “He gives everything every time.”
As for the 39-year-old’s seventh place in the drivers’ points standings, he laughed: “Kimi is leading the B league!” And that ‘B league’ will remain in place for now under the current rules regime, according to team boss Frederic Vasseur: “Not much will change until 2021,” he said. “We can only try to hold our own in the midfield. Our goal remains sixth place in the constructors’ world championship.” – he admitted at the end of the Chinese Grand Prix, which took place last weekend at the Shanghai International Circuit.
Currently, Alfa Romeo Racing is fifth in the 2019 Formula 1 Constructor Standings, on equal points with Renault.
