Alfa Romeo Racing Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur admitted that isn’t dismissing a potential move in the future from Hinwil to Maranello with Scuderia Ferrari. Frédéric Vasseur has been at the helm of Sauber- Alfa Romeo since July of 2017, spearheading the Swiss outfit’s revival and move up the grid after a lengthy period of stagnation and under-performance.
The team’s partnership with Alfa Romeo Racing obviously entails a close relationship with the House of Maranello, where Mattia Binotto took over from Maurizio Arrivabene at the start of the 2019 Formula One season in guiding the Scuderia’s destiny.
However, the Italian outfit’s performance this season has once again fallen short of its ambitions, with many believing that Mattia Binotto, who also acts as the squad’s de facto technical director, should delegate part of Scuderia Ferrari’s operational demands.
Could Frédéric Vasseur soon inherit part of the Swiss engineer’s responsibilities?
“Everything is possible,” Vasseur told French broadcaster TF1 during last weekend’s French Grand Prix – |I started in Formula Renault, on the grid here at Paul Ricard, by being 15th or 20th. So, anything is possible. For the moment I am focused on what we’re doing today because that is what’s important. I think Mattia is doing a good job, and we’ll see later about the rest.” – Alfa Romeo Racing Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur explained, as reported by the Italian media earlier today.
