A curious and light-hearted moment took place in the latest episode of F1 Grill the Grid, featuring Alex Albon and Leo Leclerc, the Ferrari driver’s dog. The Williams driver, known for his playful spirit and strong connection with Charles Leclerc, revealed an unusual side of the Monegasque driver: that of the “best dog dad” in the Formula 1 paddock.
The two share a long-standing bond, dating back to their junior categories, particularly Formula 2 in 2017, when Leclerc won the championship. In 2025, Alex Albon and Charles Leclerc have often battled on track for important positions, but off the circuit, the atmosphere remains one of great camaraderie.
Albon crowns Leclerc the best “dog dad” in the paddock
When asked whether Lewis Hamilton or Charles Leclerc was the best dog dad, Alex Albon had no doubts: “That dog lives a life of luxury, a dream. I wish I could be his dog!” joked the Thai driver. He was referring to Leo, Leclerc’s dachshund, now a permanent fixture in the paddock and even a friend to Roscoe, Lewis Hamilton’s famous bulldog.
The episode highlighted the care and affection the Ferrari driver shows for his four-legged friend, earning attention not only as a top driver but also as a model pet owner.
Leclerc and Hamilton are not the only drivers who bring their pets into the spotlight. Pierre Gasly is often seen in the paddock with his puppy Simba, while Max Verstappen is known for his love of cats, even though he also has a dog, Nino, who has yet to appear at any Grand Prix. This moment demonstrates how Formula 1, beyond its fierce rivalries, can also offer smiles and light-hearted moments.
