At the end of the Dutch Grand Prix qualifying, FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer identified a potential illegality on Alexander Albon’s Williams.
The outcome of the investigation
The FIA determined that car number 23 was indeed illegal during qualifying. As a result, the driver has been disqualified and will start from the back of the grid.
This means that every driver who qualified from ninth place downwards benefits from this decision, gaining one position.
After conducting thorough analyses, the stewards determined that the car’s floor did not comply with Article 3.5.1 a) of the technical regulations.
The British team was firmly convinced they had adhered to this rule, but the FIA’s measurement systems showed otherwise.
The official document follows.

This decision drops Albon to the back of the grid alongside his teammate Logan Sargeant, who missed qualifying after a severe crash during the final practice session.
With Alex Albon now starting from the back, the grid order is almost entirely reshuffled, with Lance Stroll moving up to eighth place and Pierre Gasly to ninth. Carlos Sainz, meanwhile, re-enters the top 10. All other drivers also move up one grid position while the two Williams cars are relegated to the rear.
