January 8, 2024: This date marks the beginning of a new era for the Monza racetrack, with a race against time starting today to complete the renovation works on the asphalt, grandstands, underpasses, and more before the September Grand Prix.
For the occasion, a press conference was held, with Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali expressing enthusiasm about the project that will bring Monza up to the standards required by Formula 1 today.
Stefano Domenicali comments on the start of the works on the Monza racetrack:
“It is clear that today is an important day because we are finally moving forward with works that were absolutely necessary. In my role, I also have the opportunity to compare all the realities that see Formula 1 practically around the world, and I believe that this first phase of interventions is absolutely necessary to enhance the Monza racetrack as a flagship representing our country worldwide.”
“I always say that Formula One today manages to attract not only new fans but also new investors and people who have the possibility, if offered a special product, to come and get to know our country. And I say this from this perspective: Monza has all the characteristics to continue making this happen. Clearly, I am looking forward to the future.”
“The recently celebrated 100 years of history represent a fundamental, certainly extraordinary, but looking only backward serves no purpose. The fact that today we finally start securing the necessary works to look beyond, to offer those who come the opportunity to experience important days of fun, passion, and spending in our country, I believe is absolutely necessary.” – the former Ferrari team principal pointed out.
“I am very happy, very pleased with this kick-off, today in January. We are fortunate that, as always, the green light for the Grand Prix will be in early September, so the days are what they are. We cannot afford to lose even a minute because there is a lot to do, but I am pleased to hear about this approach, this collaboration. I know very well how all the people present are absolutely involved because each of them has an important role in achieving the ultimate goal. It not only enhances the sport but also exalts our country. And I say this as an Italian abroad, so even more with the sense of responsibility that I must feel when comparing the various realities.” – the Italian manager continued.
