First intense day of work for Scuderia Ferrari and Pirelli at the Paul Ricard circuit in France. At Le Castellet, Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc got behind the wheel of the “mule” version of the SF90 to test the two wet specs of the new 18-inch tyres that will debut for the first time next season.
The Monegasque driver completed 83 laps in the morning session with intermediate compounds, taking advantage of the artificial irrigation of the transalpine track despite the sun making the day mild (ambient temperatures above 17 ° C). In the afternoon, Charles Leclerc accumulated important kilometers (53 laps in total) with extreme wet tires, gathering a lot of interesting data for the Pirelli technicians in order to develop a product that is suitable for critical asphalt conditions.
The tests will continue tomorrow, when the Spaniard Carlos Sainz will take to the track for Ferrari, just a few days after his first podium for the Maranello team with a second place finsh in Monte Carlo.
