Valtteri Bottas has qualified on pole for Formula 1’s 70th Anniversary Grand Prix ending Lewis Hamilton’s streak of three consecutive pole positions. Hamilton joins his Mercedes teammate on the front-row, while Nico Hulkenberg starts in P3 for Racing Point.
As expected it was another difficult Saturday afternoon for Scuderia Ferrari, who only managed to bring one car to Q. In the final stages of Q2 Sebastian Vettel put on the red stripped tyre in an attempt to reach Q3, but it wasn’t enough for the Ferrari driver who once again starts in the midfield. This time, in P12.
Charles Leclerc was not able to pull off a similar qualifying performance to last weekend when the Monegasque driver started fourth, which helped him finish on the podium on Sunday. This time Charles finished 8th, which means the race on Sunday will prove to be much more difficult.
