The 2026 Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship picture shifted again after the Canadian Grand Prix Sprint race, with Mercedes extending its advantage at the top while McLaren made an important gain in the battle with Ferrari.
Five teams scored points in the Sprint race in Montreal, with Mercedes once again delivering the strongest collective performance. George Russell’s victory combined with Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s podium finish allowed the Silver Arrows to collect 14 valuable points, further strengthening their championship position.
McLaren also enjoyed an excellent Sprint, bringing home 12 points thanks to strong finishes from Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. That result allowed the Woking-based team to significantly reduce Ferrari’s advantage in the standings, increasing the pressure on the Scuderia heading into the rest of the Canadian Grand Prix weekend.
Ferrari collected seven points through Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, but the result was not enough to keep McLaren comfortably at bay. Red Bull added two points, while Racing Bulls also secured a valuable single point.
Mercedes now appears increasingly comfortable at the top of the standings, while the most intriguing fight behind them may now be the battle between Ferrari and McLaren for second place.
