McLaren’s Oscar Piastri delivered another superb lap to secure pole position for the Qatar Grand Prix, edging out his teammate Lando Norris by just one tenth in the penultimate qualifying session of the 2025 Formula 1 season. For much of Q3, Lando Norris appeared to have the upper hand, but a costly wide moment at Turn 2 forced him to abandon his final flying lap, leaving the door wide open for Oscar Piastri to claim the top spot.
Behind the McLaren duo, Max Verstappen placed his Red Bull on the second row after a solid performance under the Lusail floodlights. He will be joined by George Russell, who delivered a strong lap of his own to put Mercedes in contention for a podium fight.
Kimi Antonelli continued his impressive rookie campaign by securing fifth for Mercedes, while Isack Hadjar followed closely behind, adding another standout qualifying result to his own breakthrough season.
